Running along the western edge of the course the fifth carries a risk of going out of bounds over the trees to the left. The right hand side of a narrow fairway slopes down to two groups of trees, the first very dense. As usual at West End a straight drive is rewarded. A favoured line in to the green is from the left as there is a steep slope off to the right but a bunker short of the green guards this approach.
